Speaker Interest Form

Speaker FAQs

  • How do I apply to be a NAWL speaker?

To apply to speak at a NAWL program, please complete the speaker interest form on our website. Ensure you provide all necessary information regarding your expertise, topics you can speak on, and any relevant previous speaking engagements.

  • What are the criteria for becoming a speaker?

We seek speakers who are passionate about advancing gender equity in the legal profession and possess expertise in areas relevant to our members. While prior speaking experience is valued, it is not mandatory. We welcome submissions from individuals who can offer unique insights and perspectives.

  • What topics is NAWL looking for speakers to cover?

NAWL is interested in a wide range of topics related to the legal profession, including leadership development, diversity and inclusion, career advancement, work-life balance, advocacy topics, and practice-area-specific legal trends. We encourage speakers to propose topics that align with NAWL's mission and interests.

  • Is prior speaking experience necessary to apply?

While prior speaking experience is beneficial, it is not a requirement. We value knowledgeable, passionate individuals who can effectively communicate their ideas to our audience. Speaking in a NAWL program is also a great public speaking and presentation opportunity.

  • What information should I include in my speaker interest form?

Please provide details about your expertise, relevant experience, topics you can speak on, how your program would be interactive with the audience, any previous speaking engagements, and links to videos or recordings, if available.

Providing detailed information helps us tailor your content to fit the audience best.

  • Can I promote or sell products or services during my presentation at NAWL events?

NAWL programming prioritizes the dissemination of knowledge and fosters meaningful discussions. While speakers are encouraged to share their expertise, we ask that presentations refrain from being promotional or sales-oriented.

Speakers should focus on delivering valuable insights, actionable advice, and thought-provoking content relevant to our audience and members. If you have specific questions about content guidelines, feel free to reach out to our team for clarification.

  • How will I know if I have been selected to speak at a NAWL program?

Once you've submitted your form, our team will review it thoroughly. If your program is selected, we will contact you via email or phone to discuss further details, including logistics.

  • Can I suggest a topic not listed on the NAWL website?

Absolutely! We welcome innovative and unique topic suggestions from potential speakers. In fact, we prioritize content that we have not previously presented and offers a unique perspective on a topic. If you have a compelling idea for a presentation or workshop that you believe would resonate with our audience, please include it in your submission.

  • What support does NAWL provide to speakers?

NAWL provides various forms of support to speakers, including assistance with presentation preparation, promotion of your session or workshop, logistical support, and access to written guides, resources, or materials.

We aim to ensure our speakers feel supported and prepared for their engagements.

  • Are there any deadlines for speaker applications for NAWL events?

Submissions are reviewed by NAWL staff and other key stakeholders. They are accepted on a rolling basis and may be considered for future opportunities year after year.

Due to the volume of submissions, NAWL is unable to respond to everyone individually. If your submission is selected for a speaking opportunity, you will be contacted by NAWL staff with more details.

  • Who can I contact if I have further questions about the speaker selection process?

If you have any further questions about the speaker selection process or require clarification, please don't hesitate to contact our team at nawl@nawl.org. We're here to assist you and provide any additional information you may need.
