Leadership Program

Details

Leadership Program sessions will be held each Friday from September 6 - October 25, 2024, except for Friday, October 4. The 90-minute sessions will be held virtually, with a speaker or panel discussing each topic to kick off the session, followed by breakout sessions with designated smaller cohort groups. These cohort groups will remain intact throughout the Program to foster meaningful relationships, create trusted spaces for discussion, and ensure deep, long-term connections.

Participants must commit to attend six out of the seven sessions when registering.

Foundations of Smarter Collaboration

The goal for this customized and highly interactive session is to spark a discussion and inspire participants to adopt a more collaborative way of working — within and outside of their own organizations.

Drawing from Heidi Gardner's bestselling book Smarter Collaboration: A New Approach to Breaking Down Barriers and Transforming Work, the latest empirical findings will be combined with pragmatic examples to flesh out how smarter collaboration drives the kinds of strategic outcomes that matter to participants. These outcomes include higher performance at work, deeper relationships with clients (internal and external), and greater engagement among team members.

Participants will be encouraged to commit to several actions to implement right away in their cohort breakouts.

Week 4
Friday, September 27

12:00 - 1:30 PM ET

Activating Your Smarter Collaboration Profile

Gardner & Co.'s proprietary Smarter Collaboration Self Profile psychometric tool helps foster a deep and rich exploration of one's own authentic collaborative self. The tool then advises on how to use those insights to promote diversity of thought and inclusivity of others’ unique strengths.

Participants will complete their profile in advance (which requires fewer than 10 minutes), and immediately receive a personalized report outlining where they fall along seven dimensions of smarter collaboration.

During the live session, participants will learn how to use their results and practice through memorable, hands-on simulations of real-life challenges. In the cohort breakouts, participants will discuss how they could make the most of their collaborative strengths – and manage their “watchouts” – upon returning to their workplaces (this includes understanding the collective strengths and gaps of the teams they belong to).

Radical Candor: Creating a Culture of Feedback

We believe that the relationships you have with other team members is at the center of your success — individually and collectively. And, at the heart of these relationships is Radical Candor, a simple framework developed to help you build a culture of great feedback.

Radical Candor is the ability to give feedback in a way that challenges people directly and shows you care about them personally. It will help you and all the people you work with do the best work of your careers and build stronger working relationships. This session will introduce you to concepts, vocabulary, and tactics you can put into practice immediately.

Personal Branding for Professional Success

Everyone has a brand whether they realize it or not.

Your personal brand differentiates you from others. Your brand is the unique combination of your skills, experience, and personality. Your brand reflects your conduct, behavior, actions, and attitudes. It is the impression you both want to make and do make on others.

Done well, your personal brand can help you succeed professionally. It helps guide the way you present yourself to current and potential contacts, clients, customers, or colleagues - ensuring that people see you in the way you want them to, instead of in an arbitrary, possibly detrimental, way.

You can either ignore your personal brand, and let it develop organically - possibly chaotically, beyond your control - or you can take active steps to create a personal brand that accurately depicts you as the person you want to be.

This interactive, high-energy session helps participants:

  • Cultivate a positive professional image, brand, and reputation;
  • Articulate key components of their brand;
  • Assess gaps between their desired brand and real-world reputation;
  • Create and communicate their unique value proposition and/or “elevator speech;”
  • Identify key strategies to reinforce their brand while engaging with others; and
  • Explore social media best practices for brand promotion.
