“This award means so much to me because it has shown me that the work I have put in to supporting the young women around me has had an impact. When I began law school I struggled with my identity as a first generation student from a rural low income area. I regularly questioned if I was on the right path and I did not become confident in my abilities to be an effective advocate until well into my second year of law school when I learned to view my background as one of my biggest strengths. Since then, I have made an effort to recognize and help others facing similar issues by encouraging them to become involved on campus and find the groups where their different perspectives and voices are needed. I am beyond honored to have been a recipient of this award and hope to continue serving NAWL's mission.”
