“I graduated law school having completed two degrees (my JD and my Master of Public Policy) and having given birth to and raised two sons (the first one born 3 weeks before 1L year); that period included a semester’s leave and 4 months on bedrest during my second pregnancy, while classes and final exams were in session. Nonetheless, I finished both degrees on an accelerated schedule (3.5 years) and will graduate with honors. There were many times I didn’t think I’d make it to graduation, let alone be recognized by an award. Receiving this award is a testament to God’s grace in my life and the support of my village that enabled me to finish with flying colors. I hope that the path to graduate education and parenthood can be easier for each new generation – that no person should have to choose between pursuing their highest career calling, gifting, and dreams and their dreams of building a family. I’m thankful to have played a small part in paving that path for others.”
