“I am honored to receive the NAWL Outstanding Law Student Award. Having initially struggled in both life and law as a former foster youth and a first generation student, I will never forget how it feels to be silenced and to persevere. Therefore, I understand that continuing to advocate for and uplift women is a privilege. I am especially grateful to my mentors at the West Virginia University College of Law who guided my journey. Ultimately, I plan to advocate for the rights of youth involved in the child welfare system with the goal of ensuring more positive outcomes.”

- Caroline Toler, a graduating law student from West Virginia University College of Law.
