When asked to reflect on her proudest moments, Sharon E. Jones wrote:

"One of my proudest legacies is as a co-founder of the Black Women Lawyers of Chicago (BWLA). When we founded this bar association, there were very few Black women lawyers in Chicago, and we dreamed of a way to connect with each other. Now BWLA has hundreds of successful lawyers and hosts a national Black women lawyers’ summit every 5 years. This group promotes mentorship, leadership and community and makes an enormous difference in the world.

Through BWLA, I had the opportunity to meet and mentor two co-founders with a dream of creating a not for profit designed to support the success of women of color law students in the legal profession. This organization, the Diverse Attorney Pipeline Program, was hosted at my firm during its 10th Anniversary year in 2024. It was great to see the progress this not for profit has made and the women it supported to career success in the legal profession. It pays to have big dreams.

One of the best examples of accomplishing your dreams is the opportunity I had to welcome Ms. Opal Lee, the grandmother of Juneteenth, to my firm in June 2024. She had a big dream to have Juneteenth become a federal holiday and she made history. From all of these stories, I know that with dedication and commitment, dreams can come true."

Sharon with Ms. Opal Lee.
