Ian partners with emerging and established business leaders to navigate the complexity and challenges of the workplace via coaching and workshops. He pairs warmth and authenticity with structured thought partnership to provide a comfortable yet challenging space for clients to take on their growth edges. Ian's fundamental commitment to clients is to position them to develop personally so they may lead more effectively.

Client outcomes include improved executive presence and credibility, better working relationships, more versatile and strategic mindsets, and enhanced internal and situational awareness. Ian’s clients own their development journeys and bring to the fore their most pressing issues right now as they face inflection points. In this way, Ian enables his clients to take meaningful and sustainable development steps.

As a strategy consultant for nearly a decade prior to coaching, Ian has worked closely with leaders in industry-leading corporations across 14 countries and become a trusted advisor to clients from analyst to CEO. His strategy work spanned topics including market disruption, distribution, net revenue management, acquisitions, capital management, and internal process change.

Ian also works as a coach with 2045 Studio, a membership-based network supporting accomplished leaders of color, and sits on the Associate Board of Scholarship Plus, a four-year college scholarship program for New York City students which in addition to funding, provides ongoing mentorship to scholars and enables access to hard-to-penetrate professional networks and job opportunities.

A native of San Antonio, TX, Ian holds a bachelor's degree from Harvard College and currently resides in New York City with his wife, Alexa, and their Australian Shepherd mix, Echo. When he’s not coaching, you might find him exploring Central Park, playing basketball or volleyball, or eagerly awaiting his next slice of pizza.

What coaching services do you provide?

I provide executive and leadership coaching for professionals, plus transition coaching for individuals.

What services do you provide in addition to coaching?

I also facilitate workshops and programs on leadership development, corporate strategy and vision, and other topics per client needs.

What is your coaching philosophy?

I view coaching as a space in which clients can first and foremost disconnect from the whirlwind of everyday demands. With that psychological distance, I as coach can then help the client hold space for the things that are going to be truly transformational for them. My philosophy in sessions is to approach clients with curiosity, using an inquiry-based approach to get underneath not only the client's issue but their relationship to it. From there, I "lead from behind" to allow the client space to define and own their experiments and solutions.

What interests or excites you about coaching women lawyers?

As husband to a woman lawyer at a large firm in NYC, I hear stories from the field and certainly see a population that could greatly benefit from coaching and effect significant positive change in their organizations and the lives of their clients.

Tell us about your training and certifications as a coach.

I completed the Hudson Institute's Coaching Certification Program and hold an ACC credential from the International Coaching Federation (ICF). I also participate in coaching supervision, and I regularly attend continuing education events through Hudson, local coaching circles, and the ICF's New York City chapter.
