As a seasoned tech executive with over two decades of experience, Doug has led global businesses and built high-performing teams across diverse functions. Now, as a certified executive coach, he partners with C-suite and senior-level leaders who are committed to growth and adaptation in evolving roles, markets, and businesses.

Doug earned his coaching certification through the Hudson Institute and is an ICF certified coach. His client list includes leaders at prominent companies like Microsoft, Snap, Google, Meta, and pre-IPO startups. In addition to executives, he reserves a limited number of coaching slots for early-career leaders who are investing in their development.


Before founding West Cliff Industries, Doug held senior roles at technology companies, ranging from early-stage startups to leading a global business for Microsoft and building a new business from scratch for ServiceChannel.


Doug holds a BA in English Literature from Northwestern University and an MBA from the Darden School at the University of Virginia. He has lived, toured, and worked in many countries and currently resides in Santa Cruz, California, with his wife, two daughters, and a dog. In his free time, he enjoys reading, movies, and outdoor activities, especially those near the ocean.

What is your coaching philosophy?

My coaching style is flexible, but my clients generally find me to be direct, supportive, curious and especially helpful as a sounding board, advisor and brainstorming partner.


What interests or excites you about coaching women lawyers?

I have a deep appreciation for the legal profession and the valuable role lawyers play in society. I am particularly interested in coaching women lawyers at all stages of their careers, providing a space for them to reflect on their experiences, goals, and challenges.



Tell us about your training and certifications as a coach.

A graduate of the Darden School at the University of Virginia as well as the Hudson Institute coach training program, I hold a Masters in Business Administration and am a Certified Professional Coach, credentialed as an Associate Certified Coach (ACC) by the International Coaching Federation.
