Vicky McPherson is the General Counsel of Ligado Networks, a mobile communications company that operates a satellite network across North America. She is responsible for leading the company’s legal operations, compliance and strategy. She helps support Ligado’s financial and strategic objectives by building upon her experience as a trusted strategic advisor on corporate matters, including mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, corporate reorganizations, venture capital transactions and joint ventures. She has more than 25 years of experience practicing law in the private sector and in-house roles.


Prior to joining Ligado, Ms. McPherson was a senior member of the legal team at the regional healthcare system MedStar Health where she was the principal attorney directly advising corporate and operational leadership within finance, information services and supply chain, among others. Prior to that, she was a shareholder at the international law firm Greenberg Traurig and counsel at Squire Patton Boggs where she was a corporate transactional attorney. Her experience in private practice included representing private equity firms in initial and follow-on investments in early-stage companies and strategic investments and representing clients in international project finance, mergers and acquisitions and strategic commercial transactional matters.


Ms. McPherson is active in community and charitable organizations. Ms. McPherson began her involvement with NAWL in 2015. Since then, she has served on a variety of planning committees for NAWL events, took the lead in forming a new affinity group and serving as co-chair, and received NAWL's "Virginia S. Mueller Outstanding Member" Award (2022).


She is a member of the Washington DC Bar Association and Virginia Bar Association. She has served on multiple nonprofit boards, including ACCESS Foundation which helps students in public schools make informed decisions about postsecondary education and provides academic, financial, and personal support while they are pursuing a certification or degree in trade school or in college. She has been an active volunteer voting rights advocate since 2001. She spent time in the non-profit sector working on voting rights issues as the director of legal outreach and planning for a key partner in the country’s largest non-partisan, voter education program.



Ms. McPherson received her J.D. from Columbia Law School and is a graduate of the University of Virginia.
