Maria Di Lorenzo (she/her) is an accomplished and dynamic legal executive and transformative leader with over three decades of experience working in private practice, corporate, and nonprofit sectors. Her expertise spans a range of practice areas including corporate governance, compliance, litigation, regulatory, transactional, and nonprofit legal affairs. She currently serves as General Counsel for both the Chicago History Museum, a nonprofit museum and research center, and Erikson Institute, a nonprofit graduate school. In these roles, she provides strategic legal guidance, ensures regulatory compliance, and supports institutional governance.


Beyond her professional roles, Maria is deeply committed to community service and civic engagement. She has contributed through extensive pro bono work, youth mentorship, and board leadership. Previously, she was an appointed member of the Evanston Civil Service Commission and served on the Board of Directors of YWCA Evanston Northshore. Currently, she is an elected Trustee of the Wilmette Public Library and an appointed member of the Wilmette Board of Police and Fire Commissioners, where she oversees key hiring and promotion decisions for police officers and firefighters. Maria is also an active member of the National Association of Women Lawyers (NAWL), serving on the Annual Meeting Host Committee. As a proud cochlear implant recipient, she is a dedicated advocate for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community. She serves on the Board of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Bar Association (DHHBA), where she Chairs the Advocacy and Engagement Committee and Co-Chairs the Development Committee. Additionally, she mentors potential cochlear implant recipients through HearPeers, a global knowledge-sharing and peer support network.


Maria earned her B.A. in Psychology from Seattle University, summa cum laude, and her J.D. from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. Licensed to practice in Illinois and New York, she balances her professional and civic commitments with family life, cherishing time and laughter with her husband and four children.
