Daniel Marion, B.A., B.C.L. first studied in Political Science and Economics at Concordia University (Loyola College) in Montreal and worked as a federal cabinet minister staff (Treasury Board and Finance) from 1980 to 1984. Later, Mr. Marion studied law at McGill University. He is a member of the Quebec Bar since 1988. He worked for fourteen years in private practice in Montreal, specializing in business law litigation. Mr. Marion joined THALES in 2001, a world leader in sophisticated electronics systems for defense, security, space, aerospace and ground transportation. In Canada, he acted as Vice President and Legal Director for THALES Avionics Canada and for THALES Canada.


As of September 2007, he was appointed Senior Legal Counsel, Corporate Transactions and Financing at THALES head office in Paris where he worked on M&A files across the world. From October 2009 to July 2010, he was Acting Director of the Department. From July 2010 to September 2014, Mr. Marion occupied the position of Vice-President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of THALES Canada (500 million $). Since October 2014, he is General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer North America (5 billion $). Thales in North America has a worldwide business with customers from public or private sector comprising governments and/or their agencies in all of Thales businesses namely: Secure Communications and Information Systems, Land & Air Systems, Defense Missions Systems, Avionics, Space and Digital & Information Systems.


He managed or supervised legal files across the globe, in particular in China, Russia and Brazil.


Daniel has been involved in Export Control since 2003, where he was at the heart of the QRS11 issue with State Department and the entire Aerospace industry. 


Daniel Marion was also lecturer in business law at Université du Québec in Montréal and at Paris Dauphine (Paris IX).
