Lizzy Hinkley joined the Center for Reproductive Rights' State Policy and Advocacy team as State Legislative Counsel in 2021. Her work includes tracking and analyzing state legislation and regulation impacting reproductive rights and supporting the Center’s clients and state partners in their efforts to defend and expand reproductive freedom in their communities.

Lizzy came from the ACLU of Colorado where she worked as the Reproductive Rights Policy Counsel. While at the ACLU, she worked in coalition with local and national partners to advance abortion rights and reproductive freedom at the Colorado state legislature, on the ballot, and through direct legal advocacy. Prior to joining the ACLU, Lizzy worked as a Legal Services Attorney in Massachusetts, representing clients with a wide range of civil legal issues in state and federal court. Lizzy also previously worked as a law clerk at the District of Columbia Superior Court and as a paralegal at the Department of Justice.

Lizzy received a JD from the University of Virginia School of Law and a BA in international affairs from George Washington University where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa.

Fun fact: Lizzy has a very chubby English Bulldog named Javi – but he also responds to “Handsome”. He loves the beach and is learning to swim with a life jacket (safety first!).
